V případě Arduino Micro se jedná o praktičtější verzi Arduino Leonardo ve velmi malém provedení 4,8 x 1,8 cm. Přesně jako u velkého předchůdce zde najdeme řadič ATmega32u4. Tento pokročilý čip obsahuje vestavěnou USB komunikaci. Proto lze řadič provozovat jako HID zařízení (jako například myš nebo klávesnice) i jako virtuální rozhraní COM. Začátek vám přitom usnadní příklady dodané se softwarem Arduino. Karta se připojuje k počítači jednoduchým USB kabelem. Toto připojení umožňuje oboustrannou komunikaci a současně napájí řadič. Díky tomu je vstup do světa mikroprocesorů jednoduchý. Zvláštní provedení Arduino Micro umožňuje zapojit řadič na zapojovací desku. Připojení ke 20 vstupním/výstupním pinům (z toho lze použít 7 jako PWM a 12 jako analogové vstupy) je díky tomu velmi přehledné.
